Griffith University - School of Public Health
The School of Public Health was set up on 1 December 1997. In teaching, it is responsible (a) at the undergraduate level for the B Sc (Environmental Health) on Logan Campus, the Work and Health Major in the B Beh Sc degree (Mt.Gravatt), and for teaching in the Nursing degree at Logan; and (b) at the postgraduate level, for the Masters of Public Health (joint with QUT, UQ), and the Masters of Health Services Management at Nathan Campus.
Vision: The School of Public Health is committed to the pursuit of excellence in research, teaching, and community service which develops more effective, efficient and equitable strategies to improve the health of human populations, and promotes environmental sustainability. The School is committed to innovative ecological approaches that bring disciplines together, have an international context, and are lifelong learning strategies.
Objectives: The School aims to be a community of scholars committed to achieving excellence in public health research and postgraduate research training, and to developing high quality undergraduate and postgraduate courses of relevance to a changing society and recognised by professional bodies and accreditation authorities. The School aims to develop research and teaching programs that integrate public health issues with economic, social, and environmental issues in the formation of strategies for achieving robust, equitable and sustainable economies for developed and developing countries, with an emphasis on community participation in decision-making. The School aims to foster a multidisciplinary approach to education and research that draws on subject matter of the areas of environmental health, the behavioral and social sciences, and the biomedical sciences, and that communicates effectively to all sections of the population.
