The Australasian Health and Wellness Institute
Improving health and wellness represents a major social, economic and political
resource of fundamental importance to our society. The Australasian Health
and Wellness Institute (AHWI) at Edith Cowan University reflects the growing
global importance being placed on 'healthy living'. Through the promotion
of high quality collaborative research and teaching, the Institute strengthens
understanding, knowledge and awareness of how to improve health in meaningful
ways, enhancing a commitment towards wellness across the University.

Indigenous HealthInfonet
The Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet undertakes research into various aspects
of Indigenous health and disseminates the results of this research (and other
relevant information) mainly via its Internet site. The emphasis of the HealthInfoNet’s
research is to generate relevant and useful information for policy makers,
health service providers, program managers, clinicians and other health professionals
(including Indigenous health workers), researchers, students and the general
community. It undertakes some primary data collection and analysis, and its
other research involves analysis of data and other information obtained from
academic, professional, government and other sources.

The Child Health Promotion Research Unit
The Child Health Promotion Research Unit (CHPRU) is a multi-disciplinary research
team specialising in applied school and family-based research.
The CHPRU has four key action areas.
To conduct or provide:
• high quality applied research;
• high quality mentoring and training;
• high level expertise in the design, planning, dissemination, implementation
and evaluation of health promotion programs and services; and
• translation of research findings into practice.

Cancer and Palliative Care and Family Health Collaborative Research Team
The overall aim of the Cancer, Palliative Care and Family Health Collaborative
Research Team is to conduct interdisciplinary research directed towards the
needs of individuals and families facing terminal and chronic illness and
the challenges of cancer diagnoses and treatment.

Centre for Nursing and Health Professionals Research
The CNHPR engages with the health professions and applies the research process
to the identification and explication of issues impinging upon or inherent
within the practice of nurses and other health care professionals in a variety
of workplace contexts. Research group members share findings with appropriate
professional groups at workshops and public seminars where appropriate.
