Menzies School of Health Research
While we take a multidisciplinary approach to research, for management purposes
MSHR has two research programs and an education program. One research program
covers social determinants of health, health services, environmental health,
alcohol and other drugs and chronic disease (diabetes, cardiovascular, renal
and respiratory disease). The other research program covers infectious disease.
Specific areas of interest in the infectious disease program include ear disease,
scabies, malaria, melioidosis, streptococcal and pneumococcal infections.
MSHR is established as the leading health research institution in Northern
Australia and we are now seeking to strengthen collaborative links in our
research and teaching programs with a variety of other institutions. We have
an excellent facility and staff, and have developed strong relationships with
local government, non-government and community stakeholders.
